Jesus was baptized "to fulfill all
righteousness" (Matthew 3:15); the disciples were baptized;
the early Christians were baptized; Peter emphasized the critical
nature of baptism in his first sermon by stating,
"Repent and be baptized,
everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ" (Acts 2:38).

Why Is Baptism
Important?
Jesus commanded us to be baptized
It is a testimony of our conversion
to Jesus Christ
It is the adoption ceremony God
requires of us
It humbles us before God and others
Who Should Be Baptized?
Anyone who has made a commitment of
their life to Christ
Anyone baptized as an infant, but not
as a believer
Someone ready to be "sold out" for
God
Someone who seeks a deeper blessing
of God in their life
Does This Negate My Infant
Baptism?
No. This baptism is totally different
in nature than an infant baptism. An infant is baptized primarily as a
dedication to God, but it involves no personal knowledge or decision on the
part of the child. Believers' baptism is a biblical baptism in response
to a person's decision to become God's child.
A Personal Testimony
"I was baptized as an infant, but at the
age of 20, after searching the scriptures, I realized I needed to be baptized
as a believer. What a memorable and meaningful experience this was!
Some six or seven years later, I realized that God pronounced a new depth of
blessing upon my life at the moment of baptism. Something very profound
happened through my baptism in response to simply being obedient to God's
command."
