Is it possible to have a sustaining joy in the midst of trials and suffering? According to the Apostle Paul, joy is something for which we should strive. Paul is able to write a letter to the church in Philippi while imprisoned for his faith. This letter overflows with Paul’s joy and excitement, and he encourages the church to rejoice despite the hardships they’re facing. This joy is not a superficial happiness based on good circumstances, this is a deeply felt pleasure of the soul rooted in hope, encouraged and strengthened by a community of believers. As we study Philippians, we just might discover how we can experience a deeper joy despite the circumstances of life.

Trust. This is an interesting word. We have all trusted in people…and it has worked out okay. Others may have put their trust in you…and that has worked out okay. However, many of us have experienced broken trusts. We thought that someone was trustworthy and they proved to be otherwise. Maybe you have been the one who has broken a trust. What about God? Is He fully worthy of our trust? Life isn’t always kind to us. There are trials that take place in our lives that we didn’t see coming. Things happen to our friends and loved ones that we cannot explain and have a hard time accepting. Is God trustworthy in times like these? There is One…and only One who is completely worthy of our trust in all things. This Sunday, together we will unpack what the scriptures say about Trusting in God!

Two people who each have their own unique struggles, insecurities, and faults are bound to have conflicts at times in marriage. Whether you are married or plan to be married someday, or can simply be an encouragement to a married person, this series is for you! Healthy marriages don’t just happen; we have to fight for them.

  • questioning our faith

    April 16-May 21, 2017

If you have questions about the Christian faith, you’re not alone! It’s perfectly okay to ask tough questions about God and the church. In fact, one reason God gives us the Bible is to answer these questions. In this series, we’ve asked you to participate and to let us know the questions you have, whether you consider yourself a Christian or not. God doesn’t leave us without rational answers to life’s biggest questions; it’s time to question our faith.

Crowds are a curious thing. A crowd can sway the behavior of an individual, and sometimes an individual can even sway the mood of a crowd. Crowds can be fickle and misleading. A crowd can reject you or accept you. As you think about the crowds you’ve been a part of, there is one crowd you belong to that you might not realize.

    Feb. 19-April 2, 2017

Is it possible to be too zealous for God? Is it possible to be too passionate in your faith? You might think this is impossible, but this is exactly what happened to a group of well-meaning religious people, a group zealous for God. They were called the Pharisees. While Jesus used the Pharisees as a standard for righteous living, Jesus also made it clear that the Pharisees’ hearts were far from God. Why? Because they didn’t know about God’s grace. In this series we will look at the subtle ways we slip into the behavior of the Pharisees. We’ll see that God is a God of amazing grace but it can be so easy to forget.

    Jan. 1-Feb. 5, 2017

As a good coach might say, “there’s always room for improvement.” The start of the new year gives us an opportunity to examine our lives and work towards personal growth. God gives us an entire book in the Bible dedicated to improving our lives in very practical ways, the Book of Proverbs. In this series we will pick up on some of the major themes of Proverbs such as healthy relationships, enjoying our jobs, and being wise with money. With God there is always hope for a better you! 2017 can be an amazing year!

  • DREAM BIG 2017

    January 15, 2017

What if Edinbrook was a place your young adult kids loved attending? What if Edinbrook was a place you felt absolutely confident you could invite your unchurched friend to, knowing that they’d feel comfortable and consider coming back? What if we had to put extra seats in the lobby because so many people showed up on Sunday? What if more lives were changed by the love of Jesus Christ? Edinbrook, this could be our reality, but it’s going to take all of us working together. This Sunday, we will discuss the future of Edinbrook. No more status quo; let’s dream big!

    December 4-25, 2016

Jesus being born into the world was an act of compassion. Jesus didn’t come to earth just so that we’d celebrate His birth once a year with songs, good food, and presents. Jesus came to earth so that we could have abundant life year-round, a kind of life that would be impossible if He had never been born. Even for us who know this story, what if there is more to be experienced? God’s compassion might offer us more than we think.

If you could be new, what would you do? Would you do things over? Would you act differently? Would you start something new? Would you reprioritize the things happening in your life? Honestly, if you could be new, what would you do? No matter where you are in life, God loves to give opportunities to His people for a fresh start. Come learn how.

    Sept. 11-Nov. 27, 2016

The Christian life is so much more than reading the Bible and knowing good theology. Followers of Jesus Christ believe the Bible and put their faith in action for the good of others and the glory of God. In other words, the righteous practice what they preach. In this world the righteous will face trials and tribulations of various kinds, but God will give us everything we need to endure suffering and make an impact on the world around us. As we study the book of James together, we will be challenged to examine our faith. Will we hear God’s Word and do nothing, or will God’s Word move us to action?

    Aug. 21-Sept. 4, 2016

The world works a certain way. In this world, people jockey for position and respect, people only care for those who care about them, people seek the paths of comfort and ease. Yet, when we look at statistics, we find that people are searching for answers. Each year Google alone sees more than four million queries of people searching for hope. Maybe it’s time to listen to someone else, to live by a different set of rules, to live a different way. What Jesus says is very different from what the world says. Jesus turns the ways of the world upside down.

    July 3-Aug. 14, 2016

Some people see God as an angry tyrant, eager to strike them with a lightning bolt if they step out of line. Some think of God like a genie in a bottle, an impersonal force who might answer a desperate prayer. The reality is that God is a dynamic God, a God of personality and character who we can relate with. We can get to know God in a personal way. People assume they know what God is like, but do we really? Do we know the God of the Bible? Only when we get to know the one true God can we experience the depths of His love and genuine life transformation. In this series, we will learn about the character of God and how these truths can change our lives.
