Encouragement for Your Week: November 2-8
This Week’s Verse
We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
- 2 Corinthians 3:18 ERV
Devotion
What does “glory” mean in this week’s verse? It describes something filled with beauty, greatness, and honor. Those who belong to Christ “show” His glory—we reflect who He is. Through Him, we display His beauty and magnificence, and our lives become worthy of honor. But this wasn’t always the case. Before Christ, our lives reflected sin and brokenness. We weren’t glorious at all; instead, we carried the marks of Satan’s influence, which only led to guilt and shame.
Now, in Christ, everything is different. God is changing us day by day, bringing us into new levels of glory. We already had the glory of being created by God, but now we also share in the glory of being shaped into the image of Jesus. Long before the world began, God chose us to become like His Son (Romans 8:29). As time passes, the reality of who we are in Christ becomes clearer and easier for others to see.
This ongoing change is the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit, who is one with Jesus and the Father, works in us to make our salvation real in the way we live (Philippians 2:12-13). God Himself started this good work, and He has promised to finish it (Philippians 1:6).
That means there is something truly beautiful and powerful about each of us. In our own unique way, we are reflecting the Lord’s glory, and that reflection grows brighter every day—until the moment we finally see Him face to face.
