Encouragement for Your Week: June 15-21
This Week’s Verse
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
—Psalm 100:4-5 (NIV)
Devotion
One of the basic truths in the Bible is that people can come into God’s presence. While we don’t go to the temple in Jerusalem anymore like people did in ancient times, we can still come before God in prayer and worship.
This verse shows us how to come before God: with thanksgiving and praise. Think about that. God is so great and worthy that it’s fitting to thank Him and praise Him when we come into His presence. We don’t treat regular people this way—not even kings or queens. In fact, if a human leader demanded that kind of treatment, we’d probably think they were full of themselves. But with God, it’s different. He deserves our thanks and praise.
The verse also tells us why God is worthy of this honor. It gives us three clear reasons:
God is good – He always does what is right and just.
His love lasts forever – God never stops loving us.
He is faithful to every generation – God keeps His promises, not just to one group of people, but to everyone, everywhere, for all time.
Imagine if God had power but used it for evil or didn’t care about us. That’s how the Greek gods were often described—selfish and unpredictable. But the God of the Bible is not like that. He is good, loving, and faithful. And because of that, we should give Him the honor He deserves.
Sometimes, we take God’s goodness and love for granted. Maybe today is a good day to pause and truly thank Him. Let’s take time to enter His presence with thanksgiving and praise, remembering who He is and all He has done.
This Week’s Challenge
Each day this week, take 5–10 minutes to write down three things you’re thankful to God for. These can be big or small—anything from a friend, to the beauty of nature, or even God's love and faithfulness in your life. Try writing these on post-it notes and place them somewhere you will be reminded of His goodness this week.
