Encouragement for Your Week: October 4-10
This Week’s Verse
“Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him…”
— Hebrews 5:8-9 NKJV
Devotion
When I look at the life of Jesus, it hits me that His pain was never random or meaningless. It had a deep, intentional purpose. Through every difficult moment, Jesus learned what it truly meant to stay faithful to His Father’s plan, refusing to let pain push Him off course.
Even though Jesus lived a sinless life, His journey required that real-world testing. Every trial He walked through was quietly shaping Him for His ultimate purpose on the cross. His heart was proven through genuine human struggle, fully equipping Him to save us.
If Jesus had to walk through hardship to learn obedience, why would we expect our path to look any different? The setbacks, heartaches, and frustrating seasons you and I face aren't just annoying disruptions. They are where our real growth happens. Instead of seeing our current troubles as empty obstacles, we can choose to view them as personal training for whatever God has next. Staying faithful through hard times deepens our character in ways smooth sailing never could.
You are a work in progress, and God hasn't forgotten you in this hard season. Think of your current challenge as a custom-tailored course designed to build your endurance and trust. Hang in there and stand firm, knowing that what you are going through right now is actively preparing you for something greater.
When you look at the hardest thing you’re dealing with right now, how does it change your perspective to think that God might be using it to personally grow you?
